Tina Turner, The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll
Stay with us to the end as this article on Tina Turner has a point at the bottom of it that you can apply immediately to your business or in life, as Tina did.
What’s in a brand name? For Anna Mae Bullock, it was everything, and for a company it’s everything. We know her better as Tina Turner, the American-born Swiss singer and actress. She has been rightly referred to as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” rising to prominence as the lead singer of “Ike & Tina Turner” before launching a successful career as a solo performer. Turner began her career with Ike Turner’s “Kings of Rhythm” in 1957. She is currently 82 years young and DIT Web Solutions would like greatly thank Tina for her LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS!
It wasn’t all roses when she started, as has been well documented.
In 1960, she was introduced as “Tina Turner,” with the hit duet single, “A Fool in Love.” Ike & Tina Turner became quite the duo! Together, they released hits such as, “It’s Going to Work out Fine,” “River Deep—Mountain High,” “Proud Mary,” and “Nutbush City Limits,” before breaking up in 1976.
On July first, 1976, they had a physical altercation. Tina fled to a friend’s house, and to fast forward the story, divorced Ike, escaping the abusive relationship she was in. During an interview with Oprah, she was asked about “What’s Love Got to Do With It.” Turner responded, “Endurance,” adding, “You know, let’s find a word for it if endurance isn’t it. I endured hardship all the way. It was stay on course. Stay focused. Never smoking. Never drinking. Never doing drugs. My legacy is that I stayed on course…from the beginning to the end, because I believed in something inside of me.”
“That told me that it can get better, or you can make something better, and that I wanted better.” Turner added. “So, my legacy is a person that strived for wanting it better and got it.” Tina ensured as part of her divorce that she would have her name, her brand and she got it.
Oh, I really like this lady! She disconnected from what we call a “toxic relationship” and she grabbed hold of her brand, and pushed it to the stars.
