Dre Labre did a presentation at FITC titled “Location, Location, Location”. Essentially the presentation was to change the mindset of clients and developers alike that no longer will web content necessarily be viewed from a computer screen, but on many different types of devices in many places.
Today there are so many devices coming out such as smart phones, tablets, home entertainment systems, laptops, and so on, stressing that a site designed for whatever device they choose to visit your website on, makes the user happy, and a happy user is a returning user, as it represents well with any brand or content and leaves a lasting impression on the user.
Additionally. location has become of great importance, as modern day devices are becoming more intelligent in conveying geographical data, so users can easily find the most relevant information as fast as possible. Especially on devices such as smart phones where someone may be on the move, typing in long details about their location may not be convenient. Most users would skip this, but systems such as geo-ip and new standards in code will allow for the transmission of such data meaning that less and less of Internet usage will be in the home, but rather anywhere in the world at any time.
